Was in the front yard yesterday with the family, and visiting with one of the neighbors. His grandson (and great-grandkids) were visiting him, and the great-grandkids were playing with the little Duper, creating some art with chalk on the sidewalk.
Oldest great-grandkid (8 years old) is tossing the ball for our dog, Genevieve. Kid doesn't have a too great of an arm/throwing skillz, and the ball goes down the hill, into the street. Small pickup truck is driving down the street, and I hear a loud thud. I don't see Genevieve anywhere.
The Fetching Mrs. P runs down towards the street, I leap off the porch, and as the Fetching Mrs. P gets into the street, Genevieve comes sheepishly around the back of my truck, limping.
She has a few "road rash" marks on her legs and chin, and is clearly shaken up. Not sure where on the pickup she hit, but I have to imagine that she went straight into the driver's side door. Driver of the pickup comes backing down the street, making sure she is okay. Can't really see any damage to his vehicle.
'Vieve spends the rest of her afternoon on her dog bed, and is moving a bit slower today. She's favoring her left paw, but allows us to touch it without yelping or complaining. She's been limping around today, but seems to be okay.
Needless to say, no more tennis balls in the front yard anymore.
