Let me put this another way:

Let’s say that you were once the subject of a sexual-harassment complaint (or two). Let’s not only posit your innocence, but posit your pristine innocence. Let us posit that you never even met the parties in question, that you refused to even consider a settlement, and that, having been refused, the parties in question had a surge of conscience and submitted to you a statement in writing, legally notarized, that the whole thing had been a fraud from day one, and in fact you had been in church at the time of the alleged incident, meditating with two deep divines, from whom you have sworn affidavits. You could not possibly have come out of the situation looking any better.

If you are running for president of the United States and have a sexual-harassment complaint or two in your background — no matter how specious — what possible excuse can you have for not knowing how those complaints were resolved, well before you announce that you are running for president? Especially if the resolution reflected well on you? How can you possibly justify your not being in command of basic facts about your own career — the career that is the centerpiece of your campaign?

Let’s say you’re not even running for president. Let’s say you’re interviewing for a job as CEO of IBM. You go to meet with IBM’s board. IBM’s general counsel says, “You know, we’re really proactive on workplace standards here. Have you ever been the subject of a sexual-harassment complaint? And, if so, how was that handled?” If you could not quite answer that question, how much confidence would you inspire in the board?

I don't pretend to know what did or din't happen with Cain in this matter.  If he is a letch, then kick him to the curb.  I'll happily lead the way.

If it was nonsense allegation (as it curently appears to be*), then let's let all the details out, and let the Court of Public Opinion decide if it is a campaign killer for Cain.

What bugsthe daylights out of me is the rampant double-standards employed by the Left and the MSM here.

John Edwards was caught hiding from reporters in the basement of a Hollywood hotel at two in the morning.  He turned out to have an illegitimate child with his mistress, while his wife was dying from cancer.  The MSM and Left covered for him.

The Left and the MSM acceptedAnthony Weiner's lie that someone had hacked into his Twitter account, inserted a few raunchy photos, and then tweeted them to a random follower.  Weiner took this event so seriously, that a U.S. Congressman could be compromised in such a manner that he did.... nothing.  The MSM and Left covered for him.

Bill Clinton was accused of sexual harassment by several women, the names of which we all know (Paula Jones, Gennifer Flowers, just to name a few), thanks to a complicit MSM and Left that felt the best defense for their guy, was to attack and discredit the women who were brave enough to step forward.

Today, Politicocan't even give the details of what the "harassment" was, because that just wouldn't be prudent.  Yet they are fine with turning the guns on a Republican Presidential Hopeful with this "evidence", in an effort to destroy his chances in 2012.

What a disgrace the "profession" of "Journalism" has become.

"These women felt uncomfortable, and they were unhappy about their treatment, and they complained to both colleagues and senior officials. In one case it involved, I think, inviting a woman up to a hotel room of Cain's on the road … We're just not going to get into the details of exactly what happened with these women beside what's in the story."

ASU pasted the Colorado Buffaloes in tempe yesterday, 48-14.  ASU needed to beat up on someone, and they had an extra week to prepare for the Buffs.  Next up, UCLA.  A win there virtually assures Arizona State the PAC-12 South crown.

#OWS PR problem?

First off, the idea of flying paper airplanes as a manner of protest is a bit childish.  Is the imagery of flying planes into a skyscraper in NYC 10 years after 9/11 the best way to advance your message?

 

Glad to see that they worry more about the littering, than the imagery.  Perhaps I am being overly sensitive.

I wonder if a group of Tea Partiers hanging a non-race specific legislator in effigy in the South, in protest of voting records on spending, would be looked at in the same way by these #OWS folks.

Remember when Bob Schieffer laid out Candidate Obama over his smoking?

Oh, you don't?  Maybe because he didn't.  He did find time to criticize Candidate Cain on the subject of smoking this morning.

“Let me just tell you, it’s not funny to me,” Schieffer said. “I am a cancer survivor, like you. I had cancer that’s smoking-related. I don’t think it serves the country well — and this is an editorial opinion here — to be showing someone smoking a cigarette.”

At least Schieffer is concerned with the bigger issues facing our Country today.

Don't get me wrong, I think smoking is a terrible habit.  I'm just asking for the MSM to use the same rulebook for Democrats and Republicans.

Boulder, Colorado thinks they can do a better job running the power company, than the power company:

Here, that debate is focused on electricity, specifically whether this city should, in Tuesday’s election, sever its relationship with a corporate utility and move toward a home-ruled, municipally owned one that would be environmentally greener and locally accountable.

Kristin Johnson, a 57-year-old lawyer, summed up her planned vote to oust the company, Xcel Energy, in seven succinct words.

“They don’t have our interest at heart,” she said.

Xcel, a Minneapolis-based company that supplies electricity across eight states, including most of Colorado, is fighting back hard, arguing that a divorce would be devastatingly expensive for Boulder residents through higher electricity rates and start-up costs. And if talk of home-rule is really about having more renewable, carbon-reduced energy generation, well then, the company has said in advertisements and letters to residents, a big corporation with deep pockets can help get there cheaper and faster than any city, however well intentioned.

“I can’t find the numbers for how Boulder is going to do it better,” said Bob Bellemare, an Xcel consultant.

Proponents of ballot issues 2C and 2B, which includes a $1.9 million tax increase in the first year to pay for planning and analysis, say that the utility industry desperately fears a public awakening, and that a John Brown-like raid on a monopoly in one place could galvanize electricity consumers all across the nation to push for change.

Leaders of the effort concede that huge challenges await if the city goes forward, and that Xcel is not the worst provider to have. Partly prodded by a Colorado law requiring 30 percent renewable energy by 2020 — one of the most aggressive standards in the nation — the company has become a big producer of wind electricity. It has also spent more than $40 million here in Boulder building a pilot project called Smart Grid, with sophisticated metering that can help customers reduce electricity use.

Not enough, some say.

I have no doubt that Boulder will pass this, and pass it overwhelmingly.  Then the hard part comes: the reality of having to do it, and do it better than a power company can, while following all the rules and regulations that the enviro-nuts have gotten on the books.  I can't wait for the first meeting, when decisions have to be made with finger twinkles.

 

But Rick Perry is the crazy one, right #OccupyDC?

Remember how the MSM went off the rails when Rick Perry suggested that Texas could secede from the United States?  They will give this the same disdain, right?

 

Let them declare their own independence.  Then, charge them for the land (at going per square foot costs for downtown DC real estate.  remove all public utilities from the square (electricity, sewer, water, etc), remove all city functions (police, fire, etc), and then make them responsible for their own laws and courts.  Of course, they would be forced to renounce their citizenship in the United States, would lose the power to vote, receive Social Security, etc.

Should be fun to watch.

What impact will this have in the 2012 elections?

73% of #OWS don't like Obama:

Thirty percent have full-time jobs, which is thirty percent more than I expected. But all’s not lost. There is in fact one point of semi-agreement between tea partiers and the ultraliberal “99 percent”: Neither group will be casting many votes for Barack Obama.

By my math, 61% of the #OWS crowd will vote for someone other than Obama (including no one).  Seeing as how 80% of those surveyed consider themselves to be at least "slightly liberal" (the majority consider themselves to be "liberal" or "extremely liberal"), it doesn't bode well for a guy that will need similar turnout numbers as he got in 2008.

Credit where credit is due..

I'm not a big Tom Cruise fan, but doing this kind of stuff without a green screen is pretty impressive..
