I have been wanting to replace the old, single-pane glass in the basement windows since we first moved into the current location of WAMK World HQ some five years ago.
The old ones were ugly, terribly energy-inefficient, and somewhat of a security risk. We used to have bars over them, but I removed those some time ago. A well placed foot would easily take out the window, offering a person up to no good easy access into my crib. Of course at that point, said bad guy would be introduced to the dogs, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Wesson.
After the events of the recent week, the fetching Mrs P. was barking in my ear thoughtfully reminded me that there was no time like the present to get another thing crossed off my "honey do" list.
So here is the before:
As you can see, not the best craftsmanship, and an easy access point into my basement.
Made a Depot run, got some 8 x 8 glass blocks, spacers, channels, and some lumber, and created this:
Note that the white paint is primer, as the whole window well and frame will get a fresh coat next week. Try and kick your way thru there, Bitches. Better look, more privacy, better energy savings, better peace of mind while I am on the road, and my girls are at home alone.
