This week comes in at 330,000, significantly under the consensus forcastof 360,000. This is good news, as the number is the lowest it has been since early 2008, and in line with the historical averages for weekly claims.
I am curious how the number could come in so far away from the forecasts-those guys are usually within 5,000-7,000 of the reported number, so being off by 30,000 makes me wonder. That variance isn't even good enough for Government work!
